The CheongDae Times regular Reporter Jong-Woo Han
On Friday, November 29, 2024, the so-called CLAP 6th exhibition of Cheongju University Life Academy was held on the first floor of our university's Millennium Information Center. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the Dongwon Foundation.
CLAP is a meaningful project to show our university students and professors by planning projects under the theme of activity lectures and volunteer activities conducted from the first to second semesters of 2024 at our university Life Academy. When you arrive on the first floor of the Millennium Information Center, write a guest book at the entrance, write down your wishes, and put them in your wish box. After that, you will receive three stickers, which you can take turns listening to the explanations of various projects and attach stickers to your favorite projects. The classmate with the sticker gets a simple snack for the last time. ▲CLAP Exhibition Entrance This CLAP carried out a project to promote specialties in Munmun-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, revive the region, and create a brand from the specialties. In particular, the Myoam Garlic Secret Group intends to promote black garlic by creating a brand called Myoam's Garlic Secret under the theme of black garlic, a special product of the village that is not well known to the residents of Munmyeon. The concept of this brand is to utilize garlic, an agricultural element, and to revive the nature-friendly feeling of the village called Munmun-myeon.
Lee Chae-yeon, a 22-year-old student in the Department of Industrial Design who is a member of the Myoam's Garlic Secret Group, said, "Black garlic is a special product in Munmun-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, and this special product is not well known, so I made the theme of black garlic to promote it. It was difficult to prepare because there were only six members in the group, but there were much more interesting things than difficulties," he said. ▲"The secret of garlic in myoam.“ Another group introduced Myoam-ri and worked on a project to utilize vacant houses in Myoam-ri. The origin of the name Myoam-ri is the place name called because the Beolbawi Rock at the entrance of the village and the surrounding rocks look strange. According to the group, vacant houses in North Chungcheong Province account for 10.6 percent as of 2023.
By utilizing the vacant houses in Myoam-ri, an inn in Myoam Village is created to encourage outsiders to visit and promote exchanges with villagers. In addition, a Myoam stone cafe is created to experience making companion stones using unique stones that can represent the identity of the village, and to make cafes and handmade buildings. In addition, health convenience stores are created to provide the most necessary living facilities in the village, healthcare services for elderly residents, and convenience facilities such as unmanned vending machines. ▲ Utilization of vacant houses in Myoam-ri Village Another group went to Myoam-ri to volunteer for murals. The group wants to transform the walls of old houses in the village into a culture and art village using pretty murals, it is expected that the creation of a mural road will promote tourism in the village. Natural elements such as flowers, butterflies, and ladybugs that harmonize well with the green nature of Myoam-ri were added to the contents of the mural, and bright colors with high photography were used. ▲Mural volunteers in Myoam Village Unlike the previous theme, there is also a group with the theme of new utilization. New utilization is the creative transformation of existing objects and use them as new values. Recycling is a standardized process, whereas new utilization requires creative design elements. New utilization is the promotion of sustainable consumption through resource conservation and environmental pollution reduction.
Park Hyo-jung, a 20th grader in the Department of Applied Chemistry, said, "In order to increase the participation rate of the event, we encouraged them to create quizzes and post-it. Another difficult point was that it seemed difficult to think about how to decorate the foam board to catch the eyes.“ ▲Form board of new utilization group Lee Seung-joo, a representative classmate of the CLAP exhibition, said, "It was difficult to have a lot of work because all the departments were different and even though there were many things to do, we had to prepare for the exhibition. However, I think it is very meaningful to show our activities to our classmates and professors while reviving the memories of our activities from the first to second semester,“
It was very interesting to see the students who came to the CLAP exhibition, listened to the explanations of various projects, and experienced various experiences. It is a good opportunity to learn more about Myoam-ri, which even people living in Cheongju-si did not know well. CLAP is a project being carried out by our university, and it seems to be meaningful to prepare for exhibitions together through exchanges with students belonging to various departments, and to create brands yourself. Since the CLAP project is constantly being carried out at our university, it would be good for many students to show a lot of interest in the course registration period.
