September: A New Starting Line

  As summer comes to an end, September greets us with the beginning of a new semester. The start of the second semester is not merely a continuation of our studies, but a meaningful time to reflect on the past months and prepare for another leap forward. Throughout this semester, you will have opportunities to learn new subjects, meet new people, and connect with the wider world. Although you may sometimes feel exhausted from studying and various activities, those very moments serve as the foundation for our growth and resilience. Each of you must have set goals for this semester—whether it be academic achievement, gaining valuable experience through extracurricular activities, or personal development. Whatever your goals may be, I sincerely hope that you achieve them with meaningful results. Every new beginning brings both excitement and uncertainty, but within that uncertainty lies the possibility of new discoveries.

 

  Time truly flies. It’s hard to believe that more than half of the year has already passed. The scorching summer heat has subsided, and the cool breeze of autumn now flows through the mornings and evenings. As the seasons change, it is important to take extra care of your health. With busy classes and activities, it’s easy to overlook your well-being and end up catching a cold or feeling worn out. While academic success is important, taking care of yourself must always come first. Please ensure you get enough rest after a long day, dress warmly, and maintain a balanced diet to stay healthy. Let us not forget that our dreams and goals shine brightest when built upon a healthy body and mind.

I would also like to take this opportunity to ask how all of you have been. Some of you may have spent the year achieving meaningful milestones, while others may have quietly persevered through challenges both big and small. Regardless of your circumstances, I truly believe that every step you’ve taken holds great value. University life is not just about learning academic knowledge—it’s a time to shape your own life and grow as an individual. There may be moments of disappointment when results don’t meet expectations, or times when unforeseen difficulties make you stumble. Yet, these experiences enrich your life and make you stronger. I hope you remember that everything you’ve gone through this year has never been in vain.

 

  Above all, I sincerely wish that all your hopes and plans for this semester come true. May you achieve not only academic success but also personal growth and new opportunities. Even when hardships arise, trust your efforts and move forward with confidence—good results will surely follow. I also hope we can continue to grow as a warm and supportive community, encouraging one another as peers sharing this campus together. The passion and effort you invest now will build a stronger foundation for your future. I wish all of you a meaningful semester filled with health, happiness, and success.

  This issue marks the 240th publication of The Cheongdae Times Newspaper. For this edition, we have explored a variety of engaging and informative topics for our readers. First, our reporters covered the Photo Art Research Club’s Exhibition and Review Session, showcasing student creativity and expression. We also examined how HyFlex classrooms—which combine online and offline learning—are shaping the future of education. Our university continues to earn outstanding recognition through global design awards and industry-academia collaboration programs, achieving an exceptional record of 18 consecutive years of awards, a rare accomplishment among Korean universities. In addition, we introduced the university’s AI-based career support program that assists students in preparing résumés and mock interviews. We also featured an article about Chuseok, one of Korea’s four major holidays, highlighting its traditions and meaning. For students, we compiled useful information about various scholarships available exclusively to university students, so make sure not to miss out on opportunities that might apply to you. We are also proud to share that DUNK, our university’s basketball club, achieved third place in the 28th Seowon University Cheongryong Amateur Basketball Tournament. Lastly, one of our reporters participated in the international exchange program and visited the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, offering readers a first-hand account of the experience.

어느덧 여름이 지나가고 9월, 새로운 학기의 시작이 다가왔습니다. 2학기의 시작은 단순히 학업의 연속이 아니라, 지난 학기를 되돌아보고 새로운 도약을 준비할 수 있는 의미 있는 시기라고 생각합니다. 이번 학기를 통해 여러분은 새로운 과목을 배우고, 새로운 사람을 만나며, 더 넓은 세상과 연결될 기회를 얻게 될 것입니다. 때로는 공부와 여러 활동 속에서 피곤함을 느낄 수도 있겠지만, 그러한 과정이야말로 우리가 성장하고 단단해지는 기반이 됩니다. 새 학기를 맞아 각자 마음속에 품은 목표들이 있겠지요. 그것이 학업적인 성취든, 대외활동을 통한 경험이든, 혹은 자기 자신을 한 단계 더 발전시키는 것이든 간에 모두가 그 길에서 의미 있는 성과를 이루시길 진심으로 바랍니다. 새로운 시작은 언제나 설레면서도 두렵기 마련이지만, 그 안에서 우리는 또 다른 가능성을 발견할 수 있습니다.

 

시간은 참으로 빠르게 흘러가고 있습니다. 어느덧 한 해의 절반 이상이 지나갔다는 사실이 믿기지 않을 정도입니다. 여름의 무더위가 물러나고 아침저녁으로는 서늘한 바람이 불어오기 시작했습니다. 날씨가 변하는 시기인 만큼 건강에 각별히 유의해야 할 때이기도 합니다. 바쁜 수업과 활동에 몰두하다 보면 몸 상태를 챙기지 못해 감기에 걸리거나 피로가 쌓이기 쉽습니다. 따라서 여러분이 학업이나 활동에서 좋은 성과를 거두는 것도 중요하지만, 그보다 먼저 자신을 돌보는 일이 무엇보다 필요합니다. 하루의 일과를 끝낸 후에는 충분한 휴식을 취하시고, 따뜻한 옷차림과 균형 잡힌 식사를 통해 건강을 유지하시길 바랍니다. 우리의 목표와 꿈은 건강한 몸과 마음 위에서 더욱 빛날 수 있음을 잊지 않으셨으면 합니다.

 

이 자리를 빌려 학우 여러분들의 안부를 묻고 싶습니다. 올 한 해 지금까지 잘 지내고 계신지요? 어떤 분들은 의미 있는 성취를 이루며 뿌듯한 시간을 보내셨을 수도 있고, 또 다른 분들은 크고 작은 어려움 속에서 묵묵히 하루하루를 버텨내고 계실 수도 있습니다. 하지만 어떤 상황 속에서도 여러분이 걸어온 길 자체가 소중한 의미를 지니고 있다고 믿습니다. 대학 생활은 단순히 학문을 배우는 과정이 아니라, 스스로의 삶을 설계하고 성장시키는 중요한 시기입니다. 때로는 기대만큼의 성과가 따라주지 않아 실망할 수도 있고, 예기치 못한 난관 앞에 좌절할 수도 있습니다. 하지만 그러한 경험들 역시 여러분의 인생을 더 풍요롭고 강인하게 만드는 자양분이 될 것입니다. 여러분이 올 한 해를 지나오며 겪은 모든 것들이 결코 헛되지 않았음을 꼭 기억해 주시길 바랍니다.

 

무엇보다도 학우 여러분이 앞으로 맞이할 한 학기 속에서 바라는 모든 일들이 잘 이루어지기를 진심으로 기원합니다. 학업에서의 성취는 물론이고, 개인적인 성장과 새로운 기회들 또한 여러분 곁에 함께하길 바랍니다. 때때로 힘든 순간이 찾아오더라도, 스스로의 노력을 믿고 꿋꿋이 나아간다면 분명 좋은 결실이 따를 것이라 확신합니다. 또한 우리 모두가 같은 공간 속에서 배우고 살아가는 동료로서 서로를 격려하고 응원하는 따뜻한 공동체가 되기를 바랍니다. 지금 이 순간의 열정과 노력이 모여 여러분의 미래를 더욱 단단하게 만들어 줄 것입니다. 이 학기가 여러분 모두에게 의미 있는 시간으로 남기를 바라며, 건강과 행복, 그리고 성공이 늘 함께하길 기원합니다.
