A Sophomore in Cheongju University’s Department of Aviation Service Takes One Step Closer to Her Dream through T’way Crew Class

 Our University’s Department of Aviation Service aims to cultivate high-level service professionals equipped with the skills of flight attendants and administrative capabilities related to the service industry. The department teaches theories about flight operations and in-flight services in an organized way, and offers a program that combines both theory and hands-on practice through modern cabin service training rooms. It also offers various programs to help students develop the administrative skills needed in the aviation and service industries, enhancing their job-related abilities.

Each year, the Department of Aviation Service provides students with field trip programs such as Asiana Airlines and Air Busan cabin crew job experience, allowing them to experience the real aviation field.

As part of this hands-on education, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, sophomore students from Cheongju University’s Department of Aviation Service visited the T’way Air Training Center located on the 1st floor of the Gimpo Airport Cargo Terminal at 210 Haneulgil, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, to participate in the ‘T’way Crew Class’.

T’way Air’s training center, which prioritizes safety above all, is an officially certified training institution by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. This center provides flight attendant training in a realistic educational environment to ensure safe flights, and also offers outsourced training, facility rentals, and cabin crew experience programs.

This T’way Crew Class cabin crew job experience program was held for the second time since last year, providing an opportunity to directly experience and practice key duties of cabin crew using the same equipment and facilities as in actual crew training. Through this, participating students deepened their understanding of the cabin crew role and gained broad knowledge of overall airline operations.

The program began at 9:30 a.m. with an orientation and a tour of the training center, followed by a company introduction and icebreaking activities,, uniform change, in-flight service practice, lunch break, first aid and fire extinguishing practice, T’way mentoring, in-flight emergency simulation, emergency evacuation drill, emergency water landing drill, and a farewell, concluding at 4:30 p.m.

This article aims to convey the vivid atmosphere of the site through scenes of sophomore students in the Department of Aviation Service participating in the program and interviews with the students.

Sophomore students from the Department of Aviation Service directly participated in this T’way Crew Class, gaining valuable hands-on experience of cabin crew duties on-site. Through actual training equipment and programs, students practiced what they learned in theory and deepened their understanding of aviation services.

Kim Min-young, a sophomore student from the Department of Aviation Service class of ’24, said, “The T’way Crew Class gave me a very meaningful experience as I was able to directly practice various trainings such as emergency evacuation and in-flight service.” She said the emergency evacuation drill was especially impressive, explaining, “Through the realistic equipment and system, I was able to experience the environment where flight attendants train.” She added, “I was touched by the instructors’ warm smiles and kind attitude throughout the training, and it motivated me to become a flight attendant who shows the same attitude in the future.”

Another participant, Han Yoo-jin, a sophomore student from the Department of Aviation Service class of ’24, said that through this Crew Class, she gained a deeper understanding of the flight attendant profession and confirmed that it suits her aptitude well. “It was a very meaningful time to see, feel, and experience the theories I had learned in class firsthand. Among various activities, the emergency evacuation drill was the most memorable. The instructors’ immersive simulation of a real situation was very impressive, and experiencing it myself gave me a chance to deeply consider the flight attendant profession,” She added, “The T’way Crew Class was an unforgettable and truly meaningful experience that will stay with me for a long time,” expressing how deeply it impressed her.

Joo Si-ah, also a sophomore from the Department of Aviation Service class of ’24, shared that the program was a meaningful experience where she could feel the sense of the real field. She reflected, “It was a meaningful opportunity to see for myself how many people work behind the scenes to ensure safety on the ground, and to truly feel the tension and realism of emergencies.” She also said, “The training facilities and environment were so precisely simulated that it felt like real-life practice,” expressing great satisfaction with the quality of the training.

This T’way Crew Class was more than just a simple experience for the students of the Department of Aviation Service—it became a meaningful opportunity to gain practical understanding of the aviation field and enhance their job competencies. The highly immersive training using real equipment served as a turning point for many students, helping them gain confidence in their career paths. Most students shared that it was “a very valuable experience that deepened their understanding of the profession.”

청주대 항공서비스학과 2학년, 티웨이 크루클래스 통해 꿈에 한 발 더 다가서

우리대학 항공서비스학과는 항공기 객실승무원과 서비스 관련 사무 능력을 갖춘 고급 서비스 인력을 양성하는 학과이다. 항공기 운항 서비스에 필요한 운항 및 기내 서비스 관련 이론을 체계적으로 교육하며, 최신의 객실 서비스 실습실을 갖추어 이론과 실무를 겸비한 교육 과정을 운영하고 있다. 또한, 항공 및 서비스 분야에 필요한 사무 능력까지 함께 배양할 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 마련하여 학생들의 직업 역량을 향상시키고 있다.

항공서비스학과는 매년 학생들이 실제 항공 현장을 체험할 수 있도록 아시아나항공 승무원 직무 체험, 에어부산 승무원 체험 등 다양한 견학 프로그램을 지원하고 있다.

이러한 현장 중심 교육의 일환으로, 2025년 5월 20일 화요일, 청주대학교 항공서비스학과 2학년 학생들은 서울시 강서구 하늘길 210 김포공항화물청사 1층에 위치한 티웨이항공 항공훈련센터를 방문해 ‘티웨이 크루클래스’에 참여했다.

안전을 최우선으로 여기는 티웨이항공의 훈련센터는 국토교통부로부터 공식 인증 받은 훈련기관이다. 실제와 같은 교육 환경으로 이루어진 이곳에서 안전한 비행을 위해 객실승무원 훈련을 진행하고 있으며 이뿐만 아니라 위탁훈련, 시설 대관, 객실승무원 체험 프로그램 또한 운영하고 있다.

이번 티웨이 크루클래스 객실승무원 직무 체험 프로그램은 지난해에 이어 두 번째로 실시되었으며, 실제 승무원 훈련 시 사용하는 동일한 장비와 시설을 활용하여 객실승무원의 주요 업무를 직접 체험하고 실습할 수 있는 기회를 제공했다. 이를 통해 참가 학생들은 승무원이라는 직무에 대한 이해도를 높이고, 항공사 업무 전반에 대한 폭넓은 지식을 쌓을 수 있었다.

프로그램은 오전 9시 30분 오리엔테이션과 훈련센터 투어를 시작으로, 회사 소개 및 아이스멜팅, 유니폼 환복, 기내 서비스 실습, 점심시간, 응급처치 및 화재 진압 실습, 티웨이 멘토링, 기내 비상상황 체험, 비상탈출 실습, 비상착수 실습, Farewell 순으로 이어졌으며, 오후 4시 30분에 종료되었다.

이번 기사에서는 항공서비스학과 2학년 학생들이 프로그램에 참여하며 직접 체험한 장면들과 함께 학생들의 인터뷰 내용을 통해 생생한 현장의 분위기를 전하고자 한다.

이번 티웨이 크루클래스에는 항공서비스학과 2학년 학생들이 직접 참여해 객실승무원 직무를 현장에서 체험하는 소중한 시간을 가졌다. 학생들은 실제 훈련 장비와 프로그램을 통해 이론으로 배운 내용을 몸소 익히며, 항공서비스에 대한 이해를 한층 깊이 다질 수 있었다.

항공서비스학과 24학번 김민영 학생은 “티웨이 크루클래스를 통해 비상탈출, 기내 서비스 등 다양한 실습 교육을 직접 체험할 수 있어 매우 의미 있는 경험이었다”고 소감을 전했다. 특히 비상탈출 실습이 가장 인상 깊었다며, “현장과 같은 장치와 시스템을 통해 승무원들이 실제 어떤 환경에서 훈련을 받는지 생생하게 체험할 수 있었다” 또한, “교관님들께서 오랜 시간 동안 밝은 미소와 따뜻한 태도를 유지하신 모습이 인상 깊었고, 미래에 승무원이 된다면 나 역시 그런 모습의 사람이 되고 싶다는 동기를 얻었다”고 말했다.

또 다른 참가자인 항공서비스학과 24학번 한유진 학생은 이번 크루클래스를 통해 승무원이라는 직업에 대해 더욱 깊이 이해하게 되었고, 본인의 적성과 잘 맞는다는 확신을 얻는 계기가 되었다고 전했다. “항상 수업 시간에 배웠던 이론들을 직접 보고 느끼며 체험할 수 있어 매우 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다. 다양한 활동을 경험했지만, 그중에서도 비상대피훈련이 가장 기억에 남습니다. 교관님들께서 실제 상황처럼 몰입해서 시연해주신 모습은 매우 인상 깊었고, 저 역시 직접 체험해보며 승무원이라는 직업에 대해 깊이 고민해보는 계기가 되었습니다”라고 말했다. 이어 “이번 티웨이 크루클래스는 결코 잊혀지지 않고 오랫동안 기억에 남을 소중한 경험이 될 것”이라며 강한 인상을 남겼다고 소감을 밝혔다.

항공서비스학과 24학번 주시아 학생 역시 이번 프로그램이 현장감을 생생히 느낄 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다고 전했다. “지상에서의 안전을 위해 많은 사람들이 노력하고 있다는 사실을 직접 확인할 수 있었고, 위급 상황에서의 긴장감과 현장감을 체감할 수 있는 기회였다”고 소회를 밝혔다. 또한 “훈련 시설과 환경이 실제처럼 정교하게 구현되어 있어 마치 실전처럼 훈련받을 수 있었던 점이 인상 깊었다”며, 교육의 질에 대해 큰 만족감을 표했다.

이번 티웨이 크루클래스는 항공서비스학과 학생들에게 단순한 체험을 넘어, 항공 현장에 대한 실질적인 이해와 직무 역량을 키울 수 있는 뜻깊은 기회가 되었다. 실제 훈련 장비를 활용한 몰입도 높은 실습은 참가 학생들에게 진로에 대한 확신을 심어주는 계기가 되었으며, 대부분의 학생들은 “직무에 대한 이해도를 높이는 매우 유익한 경험이었다”고 소감을 전했다.

이번 프로그램이 성공적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 세심하게 지도해주신 청주대학교 항공서비스학과 교수님들께 진심으로 감사드리며, 티웨이항공 관계자분들께도 실제와 같은 환경 속에서 수준 높은 직무 체험 기회를 제공해주신 데 대해 깊은 감사의 마음을 전한다.
